Joseph Jefferson 1829 - 1905


One of the most celebrated actors of the 19th century, Joseph Jefferson is best known for his portrayal of "Rip Van Winkle". He continued to play this role for more than 40 years. Outside the theater, Jefferson was an ardent fly fisherman, lover of nature and painter. Pictured are his H.L. Leonard 9 foot, 3 piece Trout Fly Rod, (c.1879-1887) and a hand-held fly tying devise.
