Dwight D. Eisenhower 1890 - 1969

A fly caster and fine angler, Dwight D. Eisenhower shared a love of fishing with his four brothers from childhood to his years as war general and then to the nation's presidency. He particularly enjoyed trout fishing and cooking his catch over an open fire. While President, he fished for trout at Camp David and at his friend's ranch in Fraser, Colorado. Knowing his passion for fishing, hundreds of constituents sent him gifts of flies, rods and reels. Pictured are an Orvis "Manchester" impregnated bamboo fly rod, 8 foot 6 inch, 2 piece (c.1950s) and a Hardy Bros. "St. George Jr." fly reel (c. 1950).
