Clearly, we are surrounded by antinomy and paradox. Beauty and terror are constant companions. As Carlos Casteņada has said, death is always watching, from just beyond our left shoulder. There is nothing new in this observation, but in a world plagued by escalating threat and the supposed "protection" of "homeland security," we would do well to note these shadows and how they play out. |
