Rush Creek Editions is
proud to present a new
boxed set of photographs
by
Susan Ressler
Susan photographed
the Algonquian Indians in
Quebec, Canada, in 1972.
She lived in a tiny village with
three families who virtually
“adopted” her, sharing all
they had despite their own
meager circumstances.
As a result, Susan’s pictures
are intimate and caring,
qualities rare for the
social document.
The new boxed set showcases
more than 30 striking
images, accompanied by Susan’s
own text. Never previously published
or exhibited, she says the pictures
lay hidden in a drawer for 35 years,
tugging at her heart while she taught
photography at university and
pursued other fine art projects.
“At Owner’s Risk” is an edgy
and personal journey. It explores
issues that concern Native peoples’
lives then and now. It is unflinching,
honest and often raw. The images
have a terrible beauty and you
will not forget them!
The portfolio includes the full suite
of finely crafted archival
pigment prints on rag paper,
each measuring 16 x 20 inches.
Created from high resolution
digital scans of the original 1972
35mm negatives, the prints are
housed in an elegant custom-made
case suitable for museum
and private collections.
