About Peter Gerba      Inquiry

Seattle Tacoma was made in 1974 during an early morning trip to the Seattle Tacoma Airport. I was returning home from the Puget Sound area where I had been sent to make photographs for Kennedy Engineers, a San Francisco based company specializing in water treatment and usage. I saw the image, as I was being driven down the small highway and asked the driver to stop the car. He thought I was nuts wanting to get out on the edge of the road. The whole thing happened quickly. I saw the duck, waited until everything looked as good as it was going to get and shot as much film as I had in the camera. This image was made into a poster in the early 80s. Many of my professional photographer friends jokingly accused me of using a radio-controlled duck. The photo was made with a Nikon, a 200mm lens and Kodachrome.
